When I saw in EW that The State was finally coming out on DVD, I squealed like the little fangirl that I am. And then I saw it was playing on MTV2 almost at that same moment, and I squealed again and changed the channel to watch a couple eps. I remembered which ones I had fangirl crushes on *giggles*. I set a season pass on my TiVo so I could first see if it was as funny as I remember it being back in the day, sort of a litmus test to see if I want to splurge on the DVD. I'll probably buy it anyways, just to put next to my KITH and Mr Show DVDs that I still have to finish watching.
Yes, I was a 90s sketch comedy fangirl.
I was reminiscing hardcore on Sunday when K and I were listening to Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet this weekend (they did the Kids in the Hall theme song). Man, was I a HUGE Kids in the Hall fangirl. I had (still have) t-shirts; was on KITH Usenet boards (old skewl! har har har); dug up all the KITH-related merch I could find (Paul Bellini and Bruce McC's cd,
The Wrong Guy, Scott Thompson's Buddy book, etc.); taped all the eps off tv (I still have all those tapes too, heh); saw Brain Candy in a theater 45 min away from college cause that's as close as it was playing; and had at least two Halloween costumes based on KITH characters - Hecubus and one of the Sizzler Twins ("We are not two clearly insane people" - yes, where I got my LJ title from). I saw them live with
painkillerjane in DC in 1999 and I swore I could die happy after that show. It was awesome I stocked up on merchandise at that show too, heh.
Ah, happy memories! I don't know if it's good or bad that I don't go all that obsessive fangirl on anything these days. (Ok, maybe Chuck and Editors.)
